Vulcan Wins Two NRA Kitchen Innovations® Awards

February 10, 2016—Vulcan’s Low Water Energy (LWE) Convection Steamer and ABC Combi Oven have been named recipients of the “Kitchen Innovations® 2016 Award presented by the National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show®” (NRA).  Chosen by a panel of expert judges, the award marks the industry’s most ground-breaking innovations that meaningfully improve the back of the house.

The revolutionary innovation of the LWE Convection Steamer reduces water usage by up to 90% compared to traditional steamers, saving operators money and energy without sacrificing cooking quality. The model is the first and only ENERGY STAR® certified electric á la carte counter-top, generator-based steamer, slashing energy costs in half.

“The LWE technology is truly ground-breaking, and the cost-savings are unparalleled,” said David Sealfon, business unit manager, steam cooking. “Another added benefit of less water usage is less maintenance. Operators may only need to change the water filter once a year, making this a win in more ways than one.”

With only three knobs and an automatically adjusting humidity control, the simplicity of Vulcan’s ABC Combi is unmatched. ““While the underlying technology is complex, the operation is not – that is what has made the ABC Combi the most intuitive machine in its class,” said Ray Bittikofer, business unit manager, combi ovens.  “One of the biggest pain points of combi ovens for end-users is the difficulty in operating it due to the complexity of the controls.  Anyone who has cooked with a convection oven can use the ABC Combi, because the controls are equally as simple.  Set the time and temperature, and let technology do the rest.”

Recipients of the Kitchen Innovations 2016 Award will be featured in the popular Kitchen Innovations Pavilion at the 2016 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show, to be held May 21-24 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
